Prisons, Portals, Playgrounds

In my current work, I use photography, self-portraiture, paint, and mixed media to explore an idea originally raised by Michael Pollan in How To Change Your Mind: “Do you see the world as a prison or a playground?” This work grapples with the impossibility of answering that question simply as a yes or no; instead, it explores portals as the means by which we are constantly moving in between and through those two states.
